I didn't like paying full price for Cubase Pro 9. The rich routing capabilities do much to obviate this limitation, and there are plug-in hosts such as Blue Cat Audio's wonderful Patchwork to make this not matter. Do your limiting or compressing on slot #6, not 7 or 8! Anything that is volume sensitive that you don't want changed with the fader only gets 6 spots. Here's a niggling point: each channel only gets 8 slots, the bottom two of which are post-fader. Wonderfully helpful for exploring Cubase fully.

Fortunately the manual is extremely approachable where first it tells you something that can be done and then meticulously and simply tells you step-by-step how to do it.
